Scholarship List and Criteria 2023-2024

Thank you for your interest in the CSN Foundation Scholarships. The application period for the 2023-2024 academic year closed on February 15, 2023. If selected, recipients will be notified via their MyCSN account beginning in May. As this is an ongoing process, applicants will not be notified if they did not receive a scholarship.

The CSN Foundation Scholarship Application will open on January 1, 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Scholarship List and criteria:

Below are the 2023- 2024 scholarships available through the CSN Foundation and their criteria for eligibility. The scholarships are broken up by area of study based on your CSN declared major.

Assistance League of Las Vegas

Description: Assistance League of Las Vegas Scholarship program offers scholarships to CSN students who are pursuing a certificate.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Requirements/Criteria:

  • Nevada Resident
  • Minimum enrollment – 9 credits

This scholarship is dispersed through the Financial Aid office and does not require an application.

Barbara & Wesley Miller

Description: Barbara & Wesley Miller Scholarship was created to help support CSN students who are veterans or children/grandchildren of veterans.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Requirements/Criteria:

  • Nevada or Out of State Resident
  • Financial Need

This scholarship is dispersed through the Financial Aid office and does not require an application.

Breakthru Beverage Scholarship

Description: This scholarship was created by Wirtz Breakthru Beverage Nevada to support two CSN students.

Amount: $3,000 ($1,500 Fall and $1,500 Spring Semester)

Requirements/Criteria:

  • GPA 2.8
  • Nevada Resident
  • Minimum enrollment – Full-time
  • Awarded to new students

Brian Sinclair Memorial

Description: The Brian Sinclair Scholarship was created in memorial and supports CSN students pursuing a degee.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

  • Nevada or Out of State Resident
  • Financial Need
  • Minimum enrollment – 6 credits

Cardenas Market

Description: The Cardenas Markets Foundation scholarship supports students who have a relentless desire to achieve their dreams for a higher education and express a commitment to serve their community.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Requirements/Criteria:

  • GPA 3.0
  • Financial Need
  • 2 letters of recommendation from CSN faculty/staff
  • Knowledge of Latinx/Hispanic culture illustrated through written materials

CSN Foundation Student Success Scholarship

Description: In support of CSNs vision of student success, the CSN Foundation has created these scholarships to support students in their education journey.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Dan & Marie Salik

Description: The Dan & Marie Salik Scholarship was created by Marie in honor of her late husband, Dan. He was a sports lover and enjoyed little league football and golf!

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Devon Stone

Description: This scholarship is in memory of Devon Stone, a member of the College of Southern Nevada’s GEAR UP & Academic Advising. A dedicated community advocate whose passion for wellness inspired and motivated all who had a chance to work with him.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Food & Beverage Director's Association of Southern Nevada

Description: This scholarship is funded by the Food and Beverage Directors Association of Southern Nevada and supports students who are studying Hotel Restaurant Casino/Resorts and Gaming.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Requirements/Criteria:

  • GPA 2.0
  • Minimum enrollment – 3 credits
  • AS or Certificate of Achievement

Funk Family Memorial

Description: Funk Family Memorial Scholarship Fund was founded in memory of Beverly Funk and her two children, Kara, Bryant, who left us too soon but through this scholarship will be remembered for generations to follow.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors

Description: This Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors Scholarship was created to support students pursuing any degree or certification program.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

  • Minimum enrollment – Part-time

Helen Close Foundation

Description: The late Helen Close organized a charitable foundation to provide scholarship primarily for education, human services and community improvement.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

HOT 97.5 and David Wilson’s Toyota Scholarship

Description: The HOT 97.5 & David Wilson’s Toyota of Las Vegas scholarship was created support a first year CSN student and another student studying Transportation Technologies.

Amount: $3,000 ($1,500 Fall and $1,500 Spring Semester)

John & Jean Sherwin Trust (Sherwin Scholarship)

Description: John and Jean Sherwin Scholarship was created to support students who were attending College of Southern Nevada.

Justin Bailey Memorial

Description: The Justin Bailey Scholarship was created in memory to support Veterans of operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation, and Veterans of other wars.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Las Vegas Hospitality Association-Monique Oosterwaal Michaels Kuhl Scholarship

Description: Las Vegas Hospitality Association established this endowned scholarship in honor of Monique Oosterwaal Michaels-Kuhl, who felt education was one of the most important aspects in a person’s life.

Amount: $1,000 ($500 Fall and $500 Spring Semester)

Laxalt

Description: This scholarship was started by Senator Paul Laxalt from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States to establish a scholarship in Nevada’s community college system.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Levy Family Scholarship

Description: This endowment was established with a gift from the chancellor’s challenge during the 2006 Gala. It was created to assist students in need.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

MGM Mirage/Hites Family Higher Education

Description: This endowed scholarship was established by the Hites Family and MGM Mirage to support CSN students pursuing a four-year degree at another NSHE institution. This $8,000 scholarship per student is paid over four semesters to complete their bachelor’s degree.

Amount: $8,000 over two years ($2,000 each Fall and $2,000 each Spring Semesters)

Nevada Choice Schools Athletic Association (NCSAA) Scholarship

Description: The Nevada Choice Schools Athletic Association Scholarship was created to help support CSN Cross Country Athletes based on donor criteria and NJCAA standards.

Requirements/Criteria:

  • GPA 2.5
  • Minimum enrollment – Full-time

The Cross Country Track Coach will make selection based on the criteria and NJCAA standards.

Orville E. Schuette-Welding

Description: Mr. Orville Shuette was a student in the Welding program. He had a strong impact on the students and staff in the Wedling Program. He greatly benefited from his education and learned welding skills that helped him rehabilitate from an accident and secure a better job. He passed away in a motorcycle accident October 2004. Faculty, staff and students put this scholarship together in his memory.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Red Rock Running Company Scholarship

Description: The Red Rock Running Company Scholarship was created to help support CSN Cross Country Athletes based on donor criteria and NJCAA standards.

Description: This scholarship was created by W and E Smith Foundation to help support Boulder City residents in their academic career.

Description: The W. Russell Warner Scholarship supports CSN students who were returning to school after taking five or more years off.

Wing and Lily Fong Scholarship

Description: Wing and Lily Fong were known for their contributions to the community. This scholarship supports CSN students pursuing a college education.

Robert E. Clark Photography

Description: The Clark family created this scholarship to benefit undergraduates enrolled in the CSN’s Photography program.

Description: The Nevada CPA Foundation for Education and Research was founded in 1969 and has funded and annual scholarship to support and encourage CSN students studying accounting and in their pursuit of the CPA license.

John P. Keller Memorial Scholarship

Description: John P. Keller (June 1974 – Feb 2022) was a commended US Army medic, and turned his love of helping the sick and injured into two degrees from CSN, graduating from the Vet Tech program, and then returning to become a Registered Nurse.  In all of his positions he was recognized for his calmness during a crisis, sense of duty, kindness to patients, and his professionalism. His hobbies included hiking, growing exotic plants, and photography.  He left money to his family and loved ones with the instruction to “do good” with it. We think he’d agree that helping people open doors in life through education is doing good with his legacy.

Description: Russell’s Restaurant is named for Russell Anderson. Dr. Anderson started at CCSN in 1972 as an instructor. It was his idea to start a culinary program at the college. This scholarship is in his honor.

Description: The Borges/Mahoney Endowed Scholarship was created to help students studying English or International Language at CSN.

Carroll Shelby Foundation Scholarship

Description: The Carroll Shelby Foundation was created by legendary racer and automotive manufacturer Carroll Shelby. They have created this scholarship to help support CSN students in the Automotive and Diesel Technology Programs.

Amount: $2,500 ($1,250 Fall and $1,250 Spring Semester)

Requirements/Criteria:

  • GPA 2.5
  • Nevada Resident
  • Automotive and Diesel Technology Degree Programs

This scholarship is dispersed through the Financial Aid office and does not require an application.

Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship

Description: The Gene Haas Foundation is offering scholarship for College of Southern Nevada students enrolled in engineering and manufacturing degree programs, certificate of achievement or skills certificate programs.

Amount: $1,500 – $2,500 depending on program and enrollment
